Yes, it’s time for us to bid adieu to 2016 and welcome a brand-new year with fresh thoughts generating loads of positivity.
The year 2016 would go down as the defining year for Amagi with promising product launches and key strategic partnership announcements. A year of reimagination indeed.
Amagi has had two major launches in 2016 – THUNDERSTORM and Amagi MIX. While THUNDERSTORM is a transformational server-side OTT ad insertion platform delivering personalized and targeted advertising on live linear OTT feeds, Amagi MIX is an online media buying and planning platform, which helps advertisers create and launch television campaigns at an affordable cost. With over 100 channels on the platform, it has already captured the advertisers’ attention.
Moving on to some of the vital developments for the growth of the company, we closed two crucial deals that will surely take our business to the next level. Over the course of time, we announced our strategic partnership with BARC India very recently. With this partnership, TV networks offering geo-targeted split of its national channels, including their national and regional feeds will be monitored on a separate basis and will be listed across BARC India’s interfaces. This will help Amagi’s advertisers evaluate their national geo-targeted ad-campaigns on BARC India’s software and thus will increase the credibility of the concept of geo-targeting advertising. The tie-up was indeed an important aspect of our offering.
Amagi also increased its geo-targeting arsenal by partnering with major TV channels such as Times Now, ET Now, Colors, CNBC Awaaz, CNN News 18 etc. This increases the targeted channel tally to 13. This number is likely to go up in the first quarter of 2017 with many network partnerships in the pipeline.
Amagi has been recognized by the industry in various categories in 2016. While Pitch magazine recognized Amagi as India’s top 50 brands under disruptors category, Amazon Web services recognized Amagi as the rising partner – South India 2016. Frost & Sullivan adjudged Amagi as the “Broadcast company of the year 2016”. Certainly, 2016 didn’t disappoint after winning the IBC innovation award in 2015.
Ending the year on a high note
We ended the year with a bang as we announced our Series D funding. Emerald Media, the Pan-Asia company backed by leading global investment firm KKR for investing in the media and entertainment sector, acquired a significant minority stake in Amagi. Premji Invest, the investment arm of Azim Premji, (an existing shareholder) also participated in this combination of primary and secondary USD 35 million.
With such an eventful 2016 we look forward for yet another year that will help us to direct our energies in achieving more heights.
